Roland P-6 thoughts…

So my wife let me get a Roland P-6 for Christmas and its an amazing little beatmaking/groovebox device. I like it a lot, and I take it to work with me everyday now. It came with the case for the AIRA devices, and its easy to throw into my backpack and keep it pushing. I can pull it out on my lunch break and connect it to my phone via USB-C and pull down samples from my Google Drive and sample them into the P-6. It works very well and it is a lot of fun to use.

I actually took it to the neighborhood Starbucks and a guy started talking to me about it. He told me that he collects older model MPCs and we exchanged Instagrams. I have a couple of cool beats going on my P-6 now, but I need to find the time to work on it more often. It’s hard when you’re tired after work and just want to rest at home. I’d love to just be a content creator on Youtube and make good money that way.

My Youtube channel is not monetized yet, so my videos don’t earn me any money at all. I need to find the time to work on my thumbnails, and make my videos have a better polish and shine to them than they do right now. I want to engage the audience, and make them WANT to watch my videos when it comes into their feed. I was thinking that maybe focusing on the P-6 in a series of videos would help me do that.

The P-6 isn’t as “talked about” as the modern MPCs or SP 404 mk2 from Roland. Sure people like sunwarper post videos about it from time to time, but if I did a dedicated series of me making music on it, maybe it could get me some more traction and help my channel grow some more. I think doing different series on certain devices would help my channel and get me more views. We’ll see if I can find the time and energy to do so, but hopefully I can. Anyways, til next time!

Happy New Year!!!

Well it’s now 2026, and its already popping. On the personal side, I got a Roland P-6 and a guitar for Christmas which are pretty cool. I’ve had the energy and time to practice my Melodics classes every day to learn keyboard, and now I have to learn to play guitar as well. I’m looking forward to the challenge, as I’m thoroughly enjoying both. I really wish I was wealthy enough to not have to go to work every day where I could spend my best hours of the day doing what I want to do. I’d guess a ton of people have that same wish so its not a unique notion. The lottery seems to be a simp mission, so that’s not the way to get that. I’m too old to pursue sports, so what does that leave? Maybe “GOD” wants some of us to slave away until we’re 70 or older and that’s just what it is. If not GOD, maybe it’s something else forcing this workaday life on us all. Maybe it’s “man” doing it.

I really need to find a work from home job, so I can get some of my time back. It was a much happier time for me during COVID when I was working remotely and able to do laundry on my breaks or lunch, or go to the grocery store to get fixings for dinner. Having to go to someone’s building to “work” sucks and it really needs to change in our society. People complain about the impending doom from the take over of AI in the work place, but I say “So be it”. The people in charge didn’t do right by their workers any damn way, so I hope it takes everyone’s job. Especially the ones who were in a position to let their workforce stay remote and chose not to do so. Even in my Desktop Support role, most of the time when I help people, its on a remote session anyway, so you can’t tell me I couldn’t do my job remotely majority of the time. Why do I have to sit in “your cubicle” to do that, rather than in the comfort of my own home??? Anyway I went off on a tangent.

It’s a new year and, although I complain, I am grateful to have a job and the people and things I have in my life. I’m looking forward to what the new year will bring and to continue striving to be a better person. I’ll do that in spite of what’s going on in the world around me. A day or two ago, the USA attacked Venezuela and kidnapped their president. It was a kidnapping, not a “capture” as the news media keeps saying. Funny how if I go somewhere and blindfold someone and take them against their will, I’ll be brought up on charges, but the government can do it without impunity. Interesting how that works right? … Sorry, another tangent.

I go back to work tomorrow after being off for over 10 days. It was a nice vacation and I really got to relax and enjoy myself. I appreciate that the company I’m with pays me for being off all that time, and I’ve tried to tell them that before. i know a lot of people have to work all during that time I was off, as I’ve done it in the past myself. I’ve worked for 24/7 support centers where we only got Christmas day off and were right back to it the day after. That sucked, and I’m glad I’m away from that type of environment. If I were working remotely it would be no sweat, but having to do the whole “morning routine” the day after Christmas sucks and is no fun. I hope you have a great start to the new year, and that you have some goals set that you want to achieve by this time next year. That’s very important, to have goals. Do you best to achieve them, and don’t beat yourself up if you get sidetracked or if you’re not as far along as you’d like to be. Keep marching forward, and do your best to be positive. Have a good one!
