Turned 45 on Monday – Status Update

My birthday was this past Monday, and I’m now 45 years old. I’m looking for a job right now as I’m unemployed. Hopefully GOD will bring something to me soon, because money is getting real tight. It sucks to not be able to afford the simple things you need in your life. It REALLY sucks to not be able to afford the things you WANT in your life. I’m a good worker with a hard work ethic. It’s hard for me to convey that to people in the few interviews I’ve gotten, but hopefully the job meant for me will come up soon and I’ll get in where I fit in.

I finally started making music on my MPC Key 61 again, which is pretty cool. I got a really tight beat going on it right now, and I’m looking forward to finishing it and putting it up on my Bandcamp page for no one to buy lol. I don’t do it for monetary gain though, I do it for fun and as my hobby. If someone likes it, that’s just a plus. I’ve had to sell some of my music gear like my Roland P6 and AKAI MPK Mini IV, but hopefully I’ll be able to get them back and them some once I start working again.

I’m not against working, I just want to be paid a decent wage where I can do the things I want and need to do. I think a lot of the reason I’ve been so bored lately is because I’m missing the work life balance. Too much work is no good, and too much play is no good. I want a decent combination of both to feel “normal”. I know that when I do get a job, I would regret not taking this time off to really work on my music or read books, etc. Even though money is tight, I still have a lot “to do” around here and I know I haven’t been taking advantage of it like I should.

I have ADD, and my doctor recently prescribed me some medication to help with it. That’s probably a large part of the reason why I got back on my MPC Key 61, because I could focus on it and sit at it without constantly moving around and getting up. I was taking this medication before and I think I was able to get a lot done then too. I’ll try to stay with it this time, and not stop taking it due to the stigma people place on the medicine. I want to study for my CompTia Security+ and other certs, so I need to be able to sit down and study for periods of time without getting sidetracked.

A couple of weeks ago, I got my CompTia Tech+ cert with just a bit of studying and going off the information I already know from working in IT for many years. The Tech+ cert isn’t often asked for, but it’s a lifetime cert, so I figured why not just get it if I can. I passed it without issue and I enjoyed the process of going to the facility to take the test. Security+ is the next one on my list to tackle, but that’s going to take more effort and focus.

Hopefully I’ll get a decent job soon, and I’ll be able to afford the test voucher and really start putting more effort into my IT career. It’s something GOD put me into, so I need to do the best I can do in it. Til next time!
