Pioneer DM-40 monitors review

So before I purchased my DM-40s I was using some Samson monitors that were decent for the price, but when I got my 40s home they blew them out of the water. The bass was punchier, the sound was more clear and I was completely stoked with the upgrade in sound quality. For $149, this speaker set performs well above it’s price point. I’ve since upgraded my primary speakers to KRK 5’s, which I’ll review as well, but the DM-40s are holding steady as the speakers for my PC setup. They aren’t the flattest speaker set out there, but they sound perfectly fine. I don’t mind the coloration of the sound because it’s done in a good direction. Music sounds great coming out of these speakers. I can’t stress enough that they perform well above their price point. Couple that with the fact that during black Friday, they often go on sale for $99 or lower and you can’t beat these speakers. One speaker is the “main” speaker with all the inputs, then you run a speaker wire to a separate passive speaker. They thump pretty well and I loved when I first got them. The KRKs I upgraded to were just as big a jump in quality, but I’ll talk about that in my opinion/review of them. For a DJ or producer on a budget, the DM-40s are definitely worthwhile and will get the job done. Don’t hesitate to pull the trigger on these things and make the purchase. You won’t be disappointed!
