Life is a trip I swear…

Man this life we’re all living is no joke. Nothing easy or mellow about it. Sure there may be times where we are able to “gel” and just chill, but there’s always something looming, be it finances, your health, your relationships, your work, etc. Often times they run into each other as well. Your work situation effects your finances, your health situation effects your relationship, etc. I’m trying to stay positive about things, but it can be difficult at times. Hopefully things pick up on the “good sway” for me soon.

Right now I’m watching the Yankees play the Red Sox and its an entertaining game. I get that people feel like most sports are fixed but it’s still a fun watch. It’s good that you be aware and don’t let that stuff pull you in too much. The people aren’t always who they say they are in entertainment, and it’s just that, entertainment. The crappy part is that TV and media raises people’s kids for them a lot of the time because the parents have to work so much to keep things moving that they don’t have time to be hands on for their children. I get that a lot of people have raised kids, but probably not the best they could have because they had to rely on other people to do so for them.

A lot of people are talking about the Karmelo Anthony case where a young black boy stabbed a white kid and he died. The white kid and his friends were giving Karmelo a hard time about being in their schools tent during some type of school event. It’s a sad situation and I think it’s even more sad that they are putting that kid in jail for 35 years as his age which I believe is 17. He’s a minor and kids should not be judged that harshly. They don’t have the brain capacity to make spur of the moment decisions in that type of a situation. Sure they are big and strong enough to really effect the physical world around them, but they aren’t emotionally and mentally developed enough to deal with the consequences of what they effect. Maybe give him a year or two in juvenile detention until he turns 18 and put him on probation after that. If you screw up within 4 years you’re going to jail.

I can only imagine what that boy will be subjected to in the penitentiary and it’s awful. Whatever he was going in as, he’s going to be even worse coming out. One young life was already lost and destroyed, why destroy a second? I would say this if the races were reversed as well. The sad thing is, if the races WERE reversed, Karmelo would have probably been allowed to walk with a slap on the hand. A lot of times the powers that be hold black people to some higher standard of behavior and if you mess up they judge you as hard as they can. It’s not right and that mentality needs to change. I have my ideas as to why black people have been so maligned in this society but that’s for another post. Maybe the next one. Anyway, keep moving, keep living, and have a good one reader.
