Pioneer DDJ-SB3 review

So I got started DJing in September of 2018 with a Numark Mixtrack Pro 1 my brother got me. From there I upgraded to a Pioneer DDJ-SB3 for a couple of weeks. The SB3 uses Serato Lite, but I wanted all the features so I bought a Serato DJ Pro license to use with it. The SB3 was a great controller while I had it. It’s smaller and more toy-like, but you can definitely rock a party with it and get some dope mixing and Djing going on. I don’t like scratching on controller so I wouldn’t recommend it for that, but the SB3 includes a lot of dope pad features that allow for some cool mixing tricks. I remember there being a fade out pad and a pad that did loop build-ups. It’s a great little device for a new DJ to start learning on. It’s well made and feels good to use. After I bought mine, I caught a DDJ-SX2 on sale so I returned the SB3 to get the SX2, but the SB3 was definitely a good starter DJ controller. Probably the best for Serato in my opinion. I’d definitely recommend upgrading to Serato Pro if you can to get the most out of the controller. If you’re new to DJing, the SB3 has some cool pad features that will let you do more complicated mixing tricks at the touch of a button. If you just want to rock a few house parties and have fun listening to your music, you can’t go wrong with this. I prefer scratching on turntables, but you CAN scratch on the SB3 as well. It’s a great little controller and for the price point it can’t be beat.
