Soooo, I got laid off from my job in March of this year. It sucks but its whatever. I had kind of gotten tired of working their anyway. They hired too many people to do a job that couldn’t have been easier if you knew what you were doing. It was very slow at times, and I didn’t like when they started making us come into the office on a “Hybrid” schedule. When will companies realize that if a department or team can do their job effectively remotely/working from home, you should allow them to do so. The employee will be happier, their kids if they have any will be happier, their pets if they have any will be happier and just in general their life will be a lot less difficult by just giving that little leeway. Its going to take the “old breed” to leave the workplace and for the younger generations to get into positions of power to make that become the norm. The people who are managers and directors are people who worked in the workplace probably before there was even email or the internet. They are accustomed to certain things and as is usual of people, they resist change, even if it’s for the better. When some people in my generation and the entirety of the generation after mine get into those positions, things will change for the better and the workplace will take full advantage of the technologies available. They’ll realize we don’t NEED to sit up looking in each others face in person, and that a Teams meeting is perfectly sufficient. That’s why the tech was designed. All an in person meeting adds is the ability to catch the flu or a cold from each other, which in turns adds to missing days of work, etc. Also I remember people working sick at a couple of my jobs because they were at home and able to get setup in a comfortable way where they still were able to get their work done. Coming into the office they would have had to call out. Anyway, the world is bass ackwards and the people in charge make it so. I hope the younger generation can get it right in the future and change the narrative. Maybe they’ll realize that if someone can’t afford a high car note, you don’t charge them more money, but you charge them less, etc. Maybe they’ll realize that people should be paid a wage where they can live comfortably and enjoy some things in life as well, regardless of where they work or what career path they chose. Maybe they’ll realize that a college degree doesn’t equal intelligence, and that there’s a lot of idiots with them, as well as a lot of smart people without them. I hope the future is better than this current state of the world. People who want to change the world need to invest in the children. Til next time.

Cassette Tapes making a comeback
So I recently picked up JDilla’s “Donuts” album on cassette tape. I play it on my cassette player I got off Turntable lab at one point. It sounds very good, and I love the sound well recorded cassette tapes can have. I noticed that places like Fatbeats.com and GetonDown.com are now selling golden era hip hop and other albums on cassette tape. I think it’s pretty cool, as listening to music on cassette really takes me back to my teenage years. I remember getting Tupac All Eyes on Me on cassette from a guy at school. It turned out to be a bootleg, but it had the album art and everything and sounded fine to me. I remember there was a record store near my house that sold a lot of hip hop albums on tape, and it turns out THEY were selling tapes bootleg and just printing the artwork inserts. They ended up getting shut down and I was really disappointed. They were within walking distance from my house and I was getting to know the owner and he would give me cool deals on multiple tapes or CDs. I got a few more cassette’s incoming like WuTang Forever, Petestrumentals 3, and De La Soul is Dead. I’m looking forward to listening to something besides Donuts. Donuts is a great album, but I’ve listened to it over and over and over this past week since getting it. I think it’s really cool that both vinyl and cassettes are making a comeback. I’m sure it’s mainly millenials like myself fueling the comeback, but regardless, its enough people that sites like the ones I mentioned are releasing official albums on both mediums. I hope it’s not just a fad that will die in a year or two, and I hope us old heads keep it alive and keep buying our favorite boom bap, golden era music from the 90s on cassettes and vinyl. It’s the best way to listen to the music as you get that warmth and analog sound that really does the genre well. I’ll post a review in my reviews section soon about the tape player I have, and maybe some of the cassette’s I pick up as I go along. With all that being said, keep enjoying your tunes and keep living life. You only get one in this body so make the best of it! L8r!
