Updates and fader caps

Hey what’s up visitor! So I’ve still been djing all this time and I’m getting better and better at scratching. It’s a lot of fun and a very cool hobby. I like it a lot. Music moves me deeply and I love the drum. Scratching is like learning to play guitar or piano. You manipulate the pitch of the sound sample to make different sounds and vibrations of the tone. The more intricately and uniquely you can do that, the better it sounds.

I recently picked up some new slipmats. I bought some beatjunkies mats off someone online. They are great slipmats and work very well. I like them even better than my Dr. Suzuki Skratch mats. They work very well on their own and don’t need a slip sheet. Another thing I wanted to mention is that I’m noticing I seem to “scratch better” when using the Innofader fader cap as opposed to a fader cap I bought online. They are both plastic, but the size and feel of the Innofader cap feels better and makes me want to scratch as opposed to the other one which is kind of bleh. Maybe that’s me being weird or superstitious like a athlete with some weird pre-game ritual or a certain sock he’ll only wear when playing.

We’re still in the throws of a pandemic but hopefully we are on the tail end of it. Whatever “they” were testing and getting data on.. hopefully it’s over and we can get back to some normalcy. I don’t agree with taking a vaccine and wish everyone who does the best. My mother-in-law took it but she’s in her 90s. I pray she’ll be ok and everyone else who decided to trust the powers that be and take it. I don’t trust them as much given their track record, so I’m taking a wait and see approach. Best of luck to you reader and stay sane and safe!

Update after a while…

Boy it’s been a minute since I posted. We got a new president. We’re still kinda on lock down and the world has definitely changed a lot over the last year or so. People are dying from COVID for sure, but perhaps some are overreacting about it. A lot of us didn’t realize people die from the flu by the thousands every year. I know I sure didn’t know that. I hope we all make it through this COVID situation and come out to a better place in the world. Hopefully some people bettered themselves through this situation or found themselves. Some people didn’t make it due to COVID or taking themselves out and I feel for both. Life is not easy, but I pray if I’m ever in a situation where I feel I want to end my life, that I reach out to someone to get a different viewpoint on things. I know it sounds cliche but the sun will come up tomorrow. Always remember that. I do believe the creator understands the shortcomings of humans and would not banish someone for not being able to take the stresses of life anymore. On a lighter note, I have 2 DJ setups going in my living room now. One with my Numark Scratch and 2 Gemini decks, the other with my Reloop Elite and 2 AT 1240XP decks. Of course the Elite based setup is my main baby. Having a lot of fun learning to scratch and I’m finally making a breakthrough it feels like. I’m starting to “get” how you want to manipulate the pitch of the sound to get different sounds and make it sound cool. Peace and all that to anyone who reads this and take care of yourself. Cya….

Hip Hop Headz….

Alright, so I’ll take a break from the theory talk and too much seriousness. I wanted to write briefly about the current state of hip hop. The current state of hip hop has some conspiracy wrapped in it too ironically. You can’t get away from these topics wherever you look. So back in the Genesis of hip hop, emcees wanted to show how large their vocabulary was. How many similes and metaphors they could use. It was about storytelling with lyrics or even just educating with lyrics. I’ve heard rappers from that era talk about walking around with a Thesaurus so they could keep their wordplay sharp. We went from that, then in came the gangster rap. There came a group of young guys called NWA. Not all of them were really gang members or lived that life, but they certainly looked the part. They were rapping about a life in many ghettos around the country and it was captivating to a lot of people. Once the industry saw how well that type of music sold, they started putting more acts together that approached hip hop in that way. A lot of the guys they found were fake gangsters, and hadn’t gang banged a day in their life, but again they looked the part and were good talkers, so people bought it. Around that time, there were some conscious rappers like Mos Def, Common, Talib Kweli, and lesser known atists like Shabazz the Disciple but that style of rap generally wasn’t in the main stream at a certain point. There are people that say that gangster rap was ushered in as an effort to further corrupt the minds of the people, especially young black people. There’s a lot of compelling evidence on that topic. Professor Griff’s book “The Psychological Covert War on Hip Hop” is probably the most notable work tackling that subject. Even with gangster rap, lyrics had remained a part of the craft although they were often vulgar and profane. Fast forward to the hip hop of today, and much of the lyricism has been lost. There are rappers in mainstream now that have no talent and are not skilled writers or wordsmiths. They call some of it mumble rap, and that’s exactly what they do on a track. Back in the early days, a rapper had to spend time writing in his or her rhyme book, then from there you had to pay a lot of money to get studio time to work with someone to make a decent beat for you and to record a demo tape or any tracks at all. These days, a $300 laptop is capable of running a music creation program that would allow a wanna-be rapper to make beats to their hearts content. Not only that, but people with actual talent, who may not be well known, are able to make beats and distribute them on the internet for low prices, whereby these mumbling rappers get ahold of it and mumble over it. There’s a current rapper that’s well known that got “discovered” on Soundcloud with a song or two he made and put up there and that got traction. The young kids of the day listen to the music and they even say they don’t care about the lyrics, they just like the beat. There’s a whole science behind that statement, but it has to do with the dumbing down of people gradually from the food we eat, the things we see, and the music we hear. When I was young and also at this age, even though Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Jefferson Starship, Lisa Stansfield and other people weren’t necessarily from my generation, I still had the ear to recognize it as “good music”. Some young people listen to Nas or Mos Def and think it’s trash music. They have no ear for music. Music on a whole has taken a huge step back, and the amazing talents of Mo-Town and yesteryear seem to not be the music stars of our current time. People with a good “look” and a large marketing machine behind them rule the airwaves today. That’s my humble opinion on that. I love music, but most of the new music that comes from newer artist isn’t worth the time of day. Til next time….

A Gray State

You should check out the movie “A Gray State” on Netflix. It’s more of a documentary about a movie that was to be made. As you watch it, look at what a huge snowjob it is. That young guy, was a born leader, extremely organized, had military training, knowledge of Agenda 21 and NWO initiatives, and was motivated. He was a very big threat to the plans of those in the shadows. Do they really expect us to believe that 2 grown adults both “went crazy” and killed themselves and their daughter? You know that scene with his “father” who played the video of the guy AND his wife talking cryptically about some entity they’d encountered gave everything away. Now either that was fake, which is why the camera was pointed at a lamp the entire time, or it was real, and those people were being affected by mind control. There was another video they showed where it seemed as though the mother was talking about hearing a voice or entity in the home. I posted already about MK Ultra and mind control.. that’s very real. They can make people do things by convincing them they are interacting with a deity or supernatural force that has their interest at heart. The fact that they tried to make it seem as though both adults had lost their mind is really the trigger here. Sure there are instances when mold spores, or something they both were eating at dinner, could have caused psychosis in them, but pull back and look at the big picture here. You have a young, militaristic, perfectionist, leader of a young white guy who is making a film about the impending doom of people in society. He’s putting all the pieces in place to get the film worked out and is succeeding. All of a sudden him and his wife apparently kill themselves and their 5 year old daughter whom they love very much? That doesn’t make sense. There is obvious foul play involved and it’s unfortunate that the guy and people don’t investigate further the weapons used against people. They may have been mind controlled. Guard your mind and guard yourself. The Hermetic Prophecy does talk about God ridding the world of evil, but God works through people on this earth. Be his instrument in whatever way you can. You are not superman or superwoman, but do your part to bring good in.

The difference….

The difference. When I drive to Walmart, I get very irritated by the slow driver in front of me. Who won’t make the right turn, or who will drive slowly right next to the other person on the two lane road, also driving slowly and preventing me from getting around them. I used to call them mean names but not anymore. Goofball is the most you’ll get out of me now. Once I get to Walmart, the people in the store standing in the middle of an aisle with their cart blocking the way. In these COVID times, people not adhering to the distance properly, or wearing their mask underneath their nose. All these things are irritating. Sometimes just the sheer amount of people milling around the store is enough to cause irritation. You may go there on your lunch break mid day and there are people there with school aged children. You ask yourself, “why aren’t these people at work and school”? I know I’m not the only one that feels these things, I’ve heard comedians like Bill Burr express the same sentiment, so it’s a natural feeling to have. You look at that picture, those people, and they may be in your way, moving slow, being a bother, but when you REALLY look at them, you understand that those people are just like you. They have children they are trying to take care of, or elderly parents they care for. Someone loves them and they love someone else. That same comedian Bill Burr made a comedy special titled, “You people are all the same”. That’s a very true statement. We are all the same. So even though at times people may get on our nerves, we realize they are still people, and as such we have a degree of love for them. We want them healthy, doing well, and not suffering…. even strangers. The difference between us and the so-called elites, is that they don’t have that feeling of empathy or concern for other human beings. They have called us “useless eaters”, and they have a belief and ambition toward population control. People are a commodity to them only meant to be used and to further increase their riches. They don’t have compassion for them, their loved ones, or their life struggle. We are so divided by race, religion, and other differences, but we are all in the same boat and situation. None of us are free. In America, even if you pay your mortgage off, you still have to pay property taxes or the home and the land it is on will be taken away from you. That means you must constantly have a source of income. The social security most people get at retirement age is not enough to support themselves with housing, food, and any hobbies which they should be entitled to. You have to report taxes every year and you cannot drive a vehicle without paying the registration. The chains of control have long been set in place and we have yet to stop it. I hear Americans yelling about communism. I don’t believe communism is the answer, but neither is capitalism. Capitalism is rooted in greed and the love of money, which is the root of all evil. For capitalism to work, someone has to be the low man, and someone has to be the high man. Sure, there are stories of people coming from low to high, but the average person is not able to do these things. A person who is a gas station clerk, or McDonalds employee, does not make enough money to maintain an apartment, pay for a vehicle and it’s associated fees, or get any type of enjoyment out of life. Yet the CEO is off golfing and eating catered meals every day. How is that fair? Often times the man in the blue collar position has more intelligence and common sense than the CEO. “High level” people will steal the ideas and inventions of “lower level” people and profit on it, only to leave the originator destitute and lacking. Something has to change. A hispanic man I worked with once said to me he doesn’t understand why people in America don’t revolt. That time is probably coming soon and I believe at that time the powers that be will fully show their hand. The prophecy of Hermes is unfolding…….

THE PROPHECY OF HERMES

There will come a time when it will have been in vain that Egyptians have honored the Godhead with heartfelt piety and service; and all our holy worship will be fruitless and ineffectual. The Gods will return from earth to heaven; Egypt will be forsaken, and the land which was once the home of religion will be left desolate, bereft of the presence of its deities.

They will no longer love this world around us, this incomparable work of God, this glorious structure which he has built, this sum of good made up of many diverse forms, this instrument whereby the will of God operates in that which he has made, ungrudgingly favoring man’s welfare.

Darkness will be preferred to light, and death will be thought more profitable than life; no one will raise his eyes to heaven; the pious will be deemed insane, the impious wise; the madman will be thought a brave man, and the wicked will be esteemed as good.

As for the soul, and the belief that it is immortal by nature, or may hope to attain to immortality, as I have taught you; all this they will mock, and even persuade themselves that it is false. No word of reverence or piety, no utterance worthy of heaven, will be heard or believed.

And so the Gods will depart from mankind – a grievous thing and only evil angels will remain, who will mingle with men, and drive the poor wretches into all manner of reckless crime, into wars, and robberies, and frauds, and all things hostile to the nature of the soul.

Then will the earth tremble, and the sea bear no ships; heaven will not support the stars in their orbits, all voices of the Gods will be forced into silence; the fruits of the Earth will rot; the soil will turn barren, and the very air will sicken with sullen stagnation; all things will be disordered and awry, all good will disappear.

But when all this has befallen, then God the Creator of all things will look on that which has come to pass, and will stop the disorder by the counterforce of his will, which is the good. He will call back to the right path those who have gone astray; he will cleanse the world of evil, washing it away with floods, burning it out with the fiercest fire, and expelling it with war and pestilence.

Guard your mind….

So it’s become more apparent to me that the human mind is the prized possession in this corner of the Universe. Do your diligent research into “MK Ultra”. Your mind is like a blank slate or a blank table. Imagine for a moment you were sitting at an empty table. And someone slid a picture of a nude woman onto that table. You could take that picture and run off to the bathroom and masturbate to it, or you could somehow relate it to the pretty girl that lives across the street and start devising a scheme to sneak up on her and violate her. This is how the mind is used and attacked. Whether you call it “the devil”, the darkness brothers, or evil, they are able to inject images or thoughts into a human beings mind in order to attempt to get you to react on them. The key is that you don’t have to react on them. That’s what free will is all about. Human beings have been tricked into believing that every thought that passes their mind is indeed their own or generated by they themselves. When people have an understanding that their minds can be assaulted by outside forces, then they would be able to combat those forces. That picture might not be that of a naked woman, it might be that of you being a big time drug dealer, or of you as a married executive businessman, forcing relations onto your subordinate secretary. Human beings have to deal with their own capacity for wickedness alone, but also realize that outside forces can interact with your thought process as well. Your mind and thoughts are simply on a certain frequency. Frequency is something in the air, satan is called the prince of the air. Guard your mind and only move on what is good.

December Update – Quick Tings!

Hi there reader! So it’s been a minute but I’m still alive so far. COVID hasn’t taken me out nor has some other stroke of misfortune. Money is pretty tight but who isn’t it like that for these days? Working from home all day drives the electric bill up, and you tend to eat more out of the fridge throughout the day when you’re constantly at home. Free coffee in the office versus having to brew a cup every morning is actually ends up a negative to your bank account. Also you drink more of your bottled water throughout the day among other things. So I was going to sell my Numark Scratch, but I saw someone ask DJ Qbert how many DJ mixers he has and he said 18! I figured if he can have 18 lord forbid I have a measly 2. So I am keeping it. It’s a nice mixer and Numark really packed a lot into the package for such a low price. Mine has an Innofader Pro in it, which cuts a lot tighter than the standard mini Innofader they come with. I’m going to put a Innofader PNP2 into it when I get the chips to purchase another one. I have the PNP2 in my Reloop Elite right now. In other news there are some family members and family friends that are sick. It sucks and facing mortality is never fun. I pray for them and hope they get well, but with my sister in law, if she passes on, it will putmy wife’s mom in a real bad predicament. In that house is my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and her son. Her son is older, but he doesn’t work much for whatever reason. Some people might say that’s being shiftless but I’m starting to believe the matrix program hasn’t taken hold of his brain like it has other people. They got me so bad I actually feel guilty when I’m not working. Anyway if my sister in law ascends, then it would be hard for her mom and her son to keep the place they are in now. So many people don’t have cushions or nest eggs or life insurance policies. They can’t afford that. It really sucks that we are born, we live, we work work work, then we die and often it leaves someone else in a jam be it with your bills or just not having your income anymore. I don’t think that’s how the good Lord intended for us to be living. When the Bible says to work 6 days and rest the 7th, those people in that time were tilling their own farm land and taking care of their own households. That was their “work”. This capitalism bs has got it all twisted and it’s founded in greed. I appreciate all the benefits of technology like DJ mixers and turntables and computers, but I think we could have attained all these things as a species, without breaking the backs of those allotted a lower position in society. They put nets around the warehouse where those Chinese people work so when they jump out they bounce right back into the window back into the assembly line. Well, maybe it doesn’t do that, but it keeps them from killing themselves. What does that say about things when you have to put up something like that? People are depressed, overworked, sleep deprived, angry, sad, and spiritually zapped a lot of times. Something has to give. The Hermetic prophecy has already been spoken, so we know how it ends, but to live in these times, it’s very rough. I wish I could live to see when God stamps out evil, and people return to the light and to God. Til next time…..

Latest news (DJ related)

So two things recently. I finally got a hold of an Innofader PNP 2 to go into my Reloop Elite mixer. It’s the “red dot” version so it will work with the Elite. I got one before but it was an older version that won’t work. You need the one with the red sticker on the package to denote it’s the newer version. It’s a dope crossfader and it’s really made scratching even more fun. It was easy to install once I understood how to configure it properly. Second thing is I also got my second Gemini PT 2000 II turntable fixed finally. Shoutouts to Repair DJ Gear in Orange County, CA for hooking that up. It’s a great repair shop and Scott does excellent work. Wherever you are in the USA you can send your equipment to him and he’ll fix it. Do a Google search for them. My brother gave me those two Gemini decks as a gift and they both were messed up after trying to calibrate them while following erroneous directions. I have two Audio Technica 1240XP decks as my main decks, but it’s nice to have two classic decks like the Gemini’s as backups. They are missing their feet, but they work fine without them. They are great decks and are good for all kinds of turntablism. If you pick some up, make sure to get some Dr. Suzuki Skratch slipmats to go with them. When all I had was the Gemini decks, getting those Suzuki mats made them seem like new turntables. Before I thought they may be underpowered for scratching, but proper slipmats changed all that. Well that’s it. COVID is still popping off and the world has gone crazy. Nero played the fiddle while Rome burned… I’ve decided I’ll mix and scratch. Peace and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

A Dicey situation

So I’m using a new method to help practice scratching. I write down different scratch techniques on a piece of paper and label them 1 thru 6. Then I roll two dice and whatever numbers it lands on, I do that appropriate scratch off the piece of paper, which gives me two scratches to practice combining together. It’s working pretty well so far and this is only day two of using the technique. I’ve come to realize that scratching is like learning. Think about how long it takes a human to learn anything and be very good at it. A few years at least. I’ve been DJing since September of 2018 and seriously alittle less time. The good news is that us humans are amazing and in 3 years we can do amazing things. Don’t believe me? Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3875jSXk0s&ab_channel=NDTV

He was sick right? Well that’s about how long it takes to get really good at something.. so put in the time, be patient, and keep working at it. Peace.

Shure M447 vs. Ortofon OM Qbert !!

So these are two very good DJ cartridges/needles. The Shure M447 is legendary and has been a mainstay for turntablism DJs for a long time now. It’s knack for holding the groove is the stuff of legends and it’s proven it’s worth at many a DJ competition throughout the world. The Ortofon OM Qbert is not as old and storied as the M447, but it’s no slouch of a DJ cart itself. When I first got a set I didn’t set them up properly and thus they seemingly didn’t perform as well as my M447s. However, if you secure them to the headshell deathly tight, calibrate your tonearm weight properly, they will hold that groove just as good as the Shure M447. Now spec wise, in terms of output, the OM Qbert is a “louder” cart at 10-11mV compared to the M447s 9mV. That difference is really negligible, especially when you’re running it on Phono output. To me the key difference between these two carts, is the needle cutout on the OM Qbert, and lack thereof on the M447. When you’re using analog vinyl, it’s hard to see the groove you’re dropping the M447 needle into. With the OM Qberts, when looking down on it, you can see exactly which groove you’re dropping the needle into, which during fast and furious mixing, can be a lifesaver. Now I’ll be honest, with the M447, you eventually get a feel for where the needle is on the stylus head, so it’s not THAT big of a deal. For a new DJ not used to either though, I’d say the OM Qbert will be easier to work with analog vinyl on. The Shure M447 cart is discontinued, as is it’s needle, but Jico makes great replacements for the M447. They sell a version with the “guard” on it and it looks just like the original. The OM Qbert still has needles being produced by Ortofon. The only other worthwhile note is that the M447 with Jico stylii is set to track at about 4 to 4.5grams whereas the OM Qbert gets down at 3g. That means that the OM Qbert will be a lot easier on your vinyl in the long run. At the end of the day it’s a matter of preference and really what you like looking at on your decks. Do you like the flatter, fatter look of the M447 with it’s guard hovering over your spinning vinyl, or do you like the sleeker look of the OM Qbert and the ability to see the groove you’re dropping into very easily? Either one will work well for playing music or turntablism. It’s harder to find a Shure M447 at a decent price these days. Right now they are going on Amazon.com for $300+ dollars and ebay isn’t much better. You can get lucky at times and find a steal for some, but you gotta keep an eye out. The OM Qberts are at $79 no matter where you go, so that’s another thing to keep in mind. Good luck and happy Djing!
