Pioneer DDJ-SX2 Review

So I upgraded to a DDJ-SX2 from the SB3. I caught an incredible deal on the SX2 and I couldn’t pass it up. It was new on clearance at Guitar Center for $389 at the time. A couple years later when I sold it back to Guitar Center they paid me $349 for it. So I basically got to rent it for $40 for 2 years. I remember when I got the SX2 home, it made my SB3 look like a toy it was so big and heavy and professional looking. The SX2 is a great DJ controller. Unfortunately I fell in love with using turntables and jog wheels are no good to me anymore. The SX2 has great Serato pad features and access to Serato FX. I was able to plug my two turntables into the controller, but the distance between the decks is so great it makes it hard to do tight beat juggling with such a big gap. That’s why I ended up selling the SX2 and getting the Numark Scratch, and then eventually a Reloop Elite. The SX2 was the first in the SX line that had access to Serato DVS which was great. I’d tell anyone in the market for a 4 channel Serato DJ controller to look for a good used SX2 if you can find one. Preferably purchase it from a chain so you can get some type of warranty. The SX2 also allows you to easily swap out the crossfader for a better one, which is a bit harder to do with the newer SX3. The screws for the crossfader are right out in the open on the SX2. The SX2 is a great DJ controller and you can often find them at decent prices on Ebay and other places. As long as it works, I’d say give it a try and you wouldn’t be disappointed. Til next time…
